help! 5.0 marquis tranny swap to mustang

i was told all i had to do was swap out the shifter arm from my mustang's transmission to the marquis transmission? is this correct? i also was curious to what else would need to be swapped? i have the tranny in the car now, and with the tv cable hooked up, it wont allow the gas pedal to be pressed. like the linkage inside the tranny isnt right? i only swapped the arm, and was curious to see if there were other parts inside that had to be swapped as well? also, after the swap.. the car has no spark, and wont start. i have changed over the neutral safety switch from the old tranny, into the new marquis tranny.. it cranks, but has no spark. i've narrowed it down to the distributor modual, but with nothing else being touched besides the tranny being removed, why would it cause the car to have no spark? also, the battery was disconnected durring the swap. nothing else was touched. im so fed up with this thing.. someone please give me insight.
