still my 302, now. i dont wnat to put my crappy old chipped paint ones back on. i want something nice and polished or chromed. preferably aluminum. less weight the better. and i dont want random company names on them like 'moroso' 'jegs' 'summit' 'bbk' etc. the only thing id accept is ford racing logo. or trickflow for my heads. but trickflow only makes black/silver/bare. and i dont want to polish myself.

do you think i have to go with tall ones or short ones?
because the stock ones on there. had some pieces ground down inside of it. for clearance i guess. not sure if it was because of problems, or for extra insurance.. what do you all think.. it was the little casting lines around the oil filler part that was ground away.

anyways.
these nice ford racing ones say "Non EFI" only. can anybody tell me why? clearance issues with something?

and these moroso ones (not logo'd i think.) say they need an intake spacer kit

i ordered the 1" trickflow spacer with my TF street manifold, which i havent gotten either yet. would that work?

or if you guys know some better ones, let me know.
and feel free to show pictures of your valve covers :)

thanks
derek :nice:

well they not frpp or trickflow but they are made buy a company that makes the ford repro stuff, I bought a set from blueovalindustries.com and are very happy with them, comves with baffle provision (must use your old baffle) and orignal filler tube, oh and there taller to accept roller rockers.

thats odd. it shows it with a chrome filler tube in the picture?

*edit*
well thanks bmo, thats exactly what i was looking for. hopefully all is how i want it when it gets here. i also broke down and orderd all the billet interior parts.. they are cheaper than 50resto!

$500+ total :(  i like car shopping

opps i wrote that wrong it comes with that chrome filler tube, what I meant to say was you just need to transfer your baffle plate from a stocker over to the new one. good luck

I got my chrome valve covers from Racecraft. I actually just tried to get to their site with no luck, so sadly I can't provide any link to it at the moment.

They fit really nicely, they're just chrome (leaves room for engraving and whatnot), and they seem like quality pieces. I ordered the appropriate Summit chrome "Ford Motorsport" breather cap to go with it, looks nice. I'll see if I can get some pics later on.

I have a set of FRPP tall valve covers for sale for cheap if you're interested. They're the tall 3 3/4 ones, and fit under my intake with a 1" spacer. They're the ones designed for a carb car, but work on an EFI car with a breather ford racing sells. I just ordered the ones that smokedawg has, I saw them on Ebay and was like "damn!". Anyway, I'm asking 50.00 shipped. They are made of aluminum, and I painted them black, but they could be easily sanded and polished so they shine again. There's a super small crack near one of the bolt holes, but I never had any trouble with it, and it could be resealed with JB weld for reassurance. Let me know if you're interested.

well.. i recieved my chrome valve covers and billet oil cap from blueovalindustries..

i was not very happy with it.
the valve covers had some tiny rust spots inside. and the oil cap would not thread onto the cover. screwed on the stock ones fine. stock cap wouldnt work either.

had to take the die grinder to the ****in thing to get it to sit almost all the way down, its acceptable now

i didnt feel like complaining, or trying to return ****.
so. woohoo air tools

wow maybe got a bad one out of the bunch mine was, nice and the stock oil cap and baffle both fit great and transfered over to the new valve coves with no problems just bolted right on.

And as far as the rust, aluminum can't rust, unless your seeing a missed spot when the plating process was done and your probably seeing copper. Anyways sorry about your experience
