I'm building a 347 SBF stroker engine for the first time. The cylinders were bored/honed to 4.030". According to Perfect Circle's recommendations I am supposed to gap the top compression ring to 0.018" (4.030*.0045) and the second compression ring to 0.020" (4.030*.0050). However, I seemed to have gapped one of the top compression rings to 0.020 instead of 0.018. First question: Do the ring end gap recommendations seem reasonable for a naturally aspirated street engine? Second question: Can I still use the top compression ring that I filed 0.002 over or do I need to buy new rings?
