My Service Engine Light came on today. As soon as I got home I took out my laptop and scanned the ECC and here are the codes I'm getting:

P1000 - OBD Systems Readiness Test Not Complete
P0133 - Oxygen Sensor Circuit Slow Response (bank 1)
P0153 - Oxygen Snesor Circuit Slow Response (bank 2)

I know these trouble codes are related to the heated oxygen sensors. What could be wrong? Should I replace the oxygen sensors? I have been using the MIL eliminators for about a year now and this is the first time the SES light is triggered on. Any help? The SES light is very annoying!

How long have you had the long tube headers? From what I have heard the longtubes can cause these codes. With your laptop do you have capability to watch fuel trim and the switch rate of the O2 sensors. Was you switch chip calibrated for the headers? Check long and short fuel trim if normal I would look at fuel pressure. Your problem shouldnt be with the O2 sensors it would be unlikley they both failed at exactly the same time.

I have had the LT headers for a year now. This is the first time the SES light is on since then. And yes, with AutoTap I have the capability to watch for fuel trim. What values should I be seen?

well those 2 codes are for the front two o2's, so your mils are alright. the only thing that i can think of would be that maybe you've only been going for short trips in your car & the o2's weren't at their operating temperature for a while & it threw codes for the front 2  because the reason you will get codes from the o2's with longtubes, is because the o2's are farther back. and o2 sensors don't work properly if not a certain temperatures. i could be wrong on this, but i'm sure someone will correct me if i'm wrong :nice:

no, you're right, I called a 4.6 guru/ specialist in baltimore because I have the SAME 2 02 codes. your 02's are fine, has it been cool where you have been lately? usually when you live in a warm climate, you don't have a problem because the 02's can heat up ALOT faster after startup properly. I live in wisconsin and got these codes ALL winter, I'm assuming they will go away when it gets nice and sticky in the summer. not sure about the P1000, but the other 2 are not hurting your car or performance at all, it's just the annoyance of the SES light being on, I just periodically check the codes with my OBD2 scanner :nice:

P.S. - i can't give you details, but certain header manifold wrap, as well as certain chips and a tune can cure that. but it just makes the light go away, doesn't hurt or help performance.

Long and short fuel trim will be shown in a percentage. normally any percentage greater than +or- 15% could indicate a problem. Then I would check for normal fuel pressure. If all is normal it is likley the O2 sensors are not reaching optimum operating temp. I have heard some type of header heat wrap can help.

Darn it, the SES light is back on :( and the same trouble codes are showing up. I talked to my mechanic today and he suggested to put new O2 sensors. I will change them tomorrow. The f#@$& light is driving me nuts. I wonder if it is affecting the performance of my car

Diagnostic Trouble Code

P0133 - HO2S Sensor Circuit Slow Response (HO2S-11)

Description

The HEGO Monitor checks the HO2S Sensor frequency and amplitude. If during testing the frequency and amplitude were to fall below a calibrated limit, the test will fail.

Possible causes

Contaminated HO2S sensor.
Exhaust leaks.
Shorted /open wiring.
Improper fueling.
MAF sensor.
Deteriorating HO2S sensor.
Inlet air leaks.

Diagnostic

Access HO2S test results from the Generic OBD-II menu to verify DTC.

DTC

P1000 - Monitor Testing Not Complete

Description

The on board diagnostic II (OBD II) monitors are performed during the OBD II Drive Cycle. The DTC will be stored in continuous memory if any of the OBD II monitors do not complete.

Possible causes

Vehicle is new from the factory
Battery or PCM had recently been disconnected
An OBD II monitor failure had occurred before completion of an OBD II drive cycle
PCM DTCs have recently been cleared with a scan tool
PTO circuit is shorted to VPWR or B+ or PTO is on during testing

Diagnostic

The DTC does not need to be cleared from the PCM except to pass an inspection/maintenance test.

Well, I found out today that my MIL eliminators were hooked up to the front two O2 sensors. There are supose to be hooked up to the rear o2 sensors. I did the change and cleared the PCM. I drove the car for like 30 miles and the SES light has not been triggered. I will have to wait a couple of weeks to see if it lights up again....hopefully not!
