The pedal to the floor shuts off the injectors (flood clear mode) when cranking. Have you cleaned the MAF sensor and replaced the air filter? Also check the battery to engine and engine to chassis grounds. All the engine sensors need a solid ground.
 
Have you checked the fuel pressure regulator? Pull the vacuum line off it and have someone hit the key. If fuel comes out of the vacuum line its bad and is flooding the engine hence the need to floor it to get it to start. I'd also check the TPS for a smooth reading through the throttle range starting at about 1V throttle closed. You can check it by pulling the light blue connector seal on the back of the plug and probing the wires from the back. Find the wire that has 5V on it with key on and then monitor voltage across the other two wires.
