Ok so i just got back from Lakeland dragstrip and i turned some numbers in the Vert. I have to say i was kinda dissapointed, it feels so fast on the street. My best ET.
60 foot: 2.363
330: 6.4
660: 9.673
Mph: 77.4

car ran 9.6's all night at 77mph
Is this good? keep in mind its a 4200 lb vert, stock converter, 3.73's, stock e7 heads. AOD

Thanks.

I have an 87 Speed Density LX, Junk yard AOD and motor, no carpet, no center console still has smog pump and ac, pretty much stock except for 70 mm throttle body, elec fan, explorer intake . I think it's way lighter than your car. I canonly get the rpms to 1000-1200 foot brake on the stock converter. It has crappy off the line throttle response. I did the L-D-L-D SHUFFLE shifting at 5000 rpms.

In the 1/4 mile it runs
60- 2.17
330- 6.133
660- 9.39
mph- 74.25
1000-12.167
1320- 14.528
mph2- 93.99

With the weight of your car that sounds about right.

was this your first time at the track with this car? If it was then practice.
I was running 9.3x's with my 88 aod vert in the 1/8th ( 65mm tb, cobra intake, 1.7rr's in stock heads underdrives and headers back exhaust 3.55's. still had 19lb injectors) last time it was dyno'd it made in the 230 hp neighborhood, 60 ft was 2.2x no matter if i was ran the 2.73's or 3.55's. Id guess your spinning somewhere.
Who ever weighed your car needs to calibrate their scale also.

Well i have never weighed the car. That is what the sticker on the door says, that does not include my stereo or all the metal i added under the thing. I will have it weighed to get a real number.
The car felt like it spun on the line and at some point thru first, then going into second. i never got past second gear.
And yes it was my first time at the track with the car. And my first time back since i was thirteen my JD was faster than my street car!!! lol

3600 sounds more realistic my dads notch weighs in around 2800 or so. The engine is being torn down soon for new heads and he is going to help me degree in the cam and some other s*** i obviously didnt do cause this thing should run faster for what ive put into it. least its faster than stock.
But on the upside it gets about 19 mpg's.:nice:

X2 on Drag Radials and a looser converter! And some prep on the trans if you are going to do this regularly.

Next step is gears. My 82 has nothing special in the engine, but a C4 with a 2500 converter and 4.10s. Weight is down at 2900. It goes 7.90's or so in the eigth mile.

Yeah the cam needs a 2600 stall converter, im leaving the 3.73's But i could benifit from some new control arms. The converter wont let me leave the line above 1500 rpm and shes a bit of a dog before 2400. i have a fiber hood on her and she will be recieving aluminum heads. I just want the thing to run a low 8, consistantly. I plan on foot braking it.
When that gets boring maybe a turbo kit...... got my eye on a on3 kit its pos but cheap! That'l get her moving.

For sure get a higher stall torque converter so you can rev right up into your powerband.
My dad's drag car has a 3200-3600 stall converter and 10 inch wide Hoosier slicks. Talk about launching hard.
