Update: Thanks to all for the help. As we started digging more into the harness, we noticed it was in terrible shape. There were connectors from different model years spliced in and grounds were either missing or in terrible shape.

So, my Dad decided to strip the entire car down. We are planning a full restoration and painless wiring install.

Just wanted to update this thread in case anyone else is having similar issues!

Good catch, with the age these cars a getting to the wiring can get pretty brittle, add to that some previous owners with good intentions but bad execution and you have a rolling mess.
