  1. Is there a way to remove the ignition lock cylinder WITHOUT destroying the steering column? We do not have the key. Local locksmith says he can make us a key from the door lock cylinder (easily removed) for $60, but that's a $60 gamble/hunch/hope that the doors still match the ignition after 42 years. View attachment 142228 Any and all help/suggestions would be truly appreciated. FWIW, we have already tried the 50 some odd "extra" keys we have in a box, wiggling, etc, to see if we could find a close match, but no luck.
    Thanks,

Gene , i have drilled the centers out before using about a 5/16 bit. just drill deep enough to get to the tumbler pins and there springs out . you will still have to use a straightend out paper clip to push the release to pull the lock part out . works on trunk locks and door locks as well .just dont drill to deep.
