Installing Steeda Tri-Ax Short Throw Shifter

I am getting ready to install it tomorrow, anyone have advice that has installed one before? Or problems to watch for? I have a 89. Any input would be good.

It's as basic a job as there is. Unscrew the shift knob, remove the shifter plate, remove the cover underneath it, unscrew four bolts, pop off the shifter, drop the new one in, tighten up the four bolts, adjust the stops as per the instructions, reinstall the cover and the shifter plate and install your knob. Even if you're a complete newbie with a wrench, you should be able to do it in well under an hour. I've done a few and it takes me about 15 minutes.

The only possible issue is getting the shifter off the transmission once the bolts are removed. The shifter is stuck on there pretty good sometimes. If it won't come off easily, put the knob back on the shifter handle and rock the shifter firmly from side to side. That should break the shifter loose from the tranny.

What was the best way people found to get the back two bolts off the stock shifter? A ratchet wrench?

I found that I had to remove the console to get the cover plate with the rubber out and in on my 89 LX. That was a bit of a pain.

2nd that, I also had to remove the console to get to everything.

I remove the console, it's definently worth it. And don't forget a new cup bushing.

Console was easy woulnt of thought that!. Got it all done, thanks again for the help on here.
