So I've been ghost for about 2 weeks but for good reason, the car has an 8.8 with 3.73's full five lug, with cobra fronts, and gt rears, early cobra booster and cobra master cylinder, MM sway bars, some type of tubular rear control arms, eibach sportlines and pro dampers. And more parts that I have yet to install. So the first stage of the build is almost complete.

The overall appeal/look I'm going for is a livable street fighter.

I'm planning on wiring the 302 up as if it were carburator and then running it with a stand alone TBI EFI. Can anyone let me know what I'm in for with that?

As far as wiring, there's plenty of people who've converted old cars over so the wiring is pretty straightforward. If you check the Holley website, they have full instructions for installation of their Sniper system which along with Fitech is popular and simple.

You're still going to need an EFI tank and both a supply and return fuel line. That's the most difficult part for the classic owners.
 
This is her so far, suspension and rolling gear 90% there.
I have a 5.0 input shaft. But I do have a question. If I put a numerically lower rear gear like a 3.27 how will the 4 cylinder trans hold up? I did the math on tremecs site and 3.27 or 3.15's work out to be about the same as a 5.0 gear box to 3.73's. yes 3-4 will be wonky but I'm not competitively racing this car so it won't really matter.

Apart from that the 5.0 is at the machinist now getting bored 30 over and I'm trying to collect the various odds and ends to accomplish the basic swap for now without breaking the bank.

Worked on some detail stuff cleanigg the timing cover and valve cover and painted them. Have difficulty prepping the timing cover any tips or paint stripper anyone can suggest? Also bought a welder for door hinge repair.

No worries, it just documents the trials and troubles of building a car and your audience knows what your working with, what you've done and can chime in on what they think you could do better.
or did totally wrong.
 
Whole new appreciation for body work guys, alittle defeated, my attempt to patch the hack job access to the fuel tank didn't go so well. I'm blaming myself but for now this is how she'll sit. Probably going to fabricate a sheet metal access panel there and over the fuel pump. Why can't people just drop the tank like there suppose to -__-

Hate to see a car hacked up like that. It's not a bad idea if people would just make decent cover plates for it.

Welding thin sheet metal is a challenge with flux core. It can be done with practice. You've got to track it all over the place being mindful of how much heat you're putting in an area.

Did you weld that with the tank in ? You've got kahoonas.

Nope, not quite that loony, welding cleaned and painted the bottom, installed the tank, and cleaned and primed the top side. Im the "oh I should probably take a picture of this" after the fact

Figured, that was case with the 2.3's just that I'd ask. Probably as 400-500 for it and see if anyone bites.
 
So decided not to make an access panel for the spare tire well. Just cleaned it up and JB welded the holes and gaps. Is it the way I really want it, no, but noone is gonna see it and I'm working on a budget, once the JB weld cures I'm going to sand it as smooth as I can get it and prime it.

Just a quick update bought speed pro .030 over forged pistons and cleaned up to the heads today. Learned oven cleaner really does work on carbon build up in an engine. Now I just need to source some parts from the junk yard so I don't go broke funding LMR and summit.

Also fixed the door sag with some welds, wasn't as pretty as I wanted it but filled in the nooks and crannies with epoxy and called it a day.

So I went and purchased the go EFI 600 kit and I bought a ford carb throttle cable, any suggestions for the throttle bracket mounted to the carb flange, or a universal bracket that will accept the ford cable? For reference the GO EFI setup is standard 4150/4160 with holly style linkage.
 
Morning everybody, so I need advice as to whether my wiring idea is a solid plan or not. My course of action is to remove the entire 4 cylinder engine harness and computer and wire in a fuse block using the computers old ignition source power. Then from my new fuse block power the fitech EFI system, fuel pump relay and what ever else needs ignition power engine wise. Am I missing anything, not for seeing something? I'm sure I am which is why I posted this up here. For those reading 1993 4 cylinder to 5.0 running a Fitech GO EFI 600 kit.
