is it an absolute must to swap out timing covers?

Im swapping a motor out of an 02 GT into my 96 GT im seeing some conflicting reports from the board some say you have to others say you can get away with modifying the coil pack bracket.im getting rteady to order up gaskets and I want to make sure I have everything on hand

there both romeo engines and as far as i know you wont have to swap the timing covers, they should be the same
