Just when I think I’m out

Well, number 2 is home. And that’s an accurate description of it. Oh so much went wrong with this poor car. This thing needs a lot of love... All in time.

Also, I found something cool from my past while rummaging around cleaning up. Automotive artifacts. I call things like this shop nuggets. I don’t know about the rest of the country, but it seems down here Oreillys bought out HiLo auto parts about 1992?

I remember putting these emblems off some of my old cars in this bag and tossing them in a box somewhere around 1989:

Pretty cool. Wish I still had the cars they came off of!

I have a similar emblem collection. Just from newer cars.

I can see why! Cool Mach 1. Glad you got both of em back home now. I still have the old badges from the 69 GTO I had. They are tool box emblems now. :nice:

Man I wish I would've kept my first love. She was a 1987 Mustang Gt 5 speed. I sold her back in 2002. Well Boosted92LX have fun building these babies we will be watching.

Thank you sir. I did one of these a while back with my son and we had a great time doing it. He’s away at college now, but maybe when he comes home sometime on weekends he can help out on them. I’m betting he’ll be right in the middle of it!

Man, I’m whooped. I just got home from Houston. I left the house after getting home with momma from church and drove 65 miles up there and pulled this motor out of a parts car a guy had on FB. I got to hear it run, so that was good... I didn’t want to miss the sale so I had to hurry up there! :ack:

Too old for thrashing like that, but there were three
guys with money waiting in line in case I didn’t show!

Yessir he sure does. He says he won’t sell it because we built it together. He has an 06 F150 he drives to college because that old fox just wasn’t dependable enough. Always a tfi module or a sensor or a fuel pump going out, and I couldn’t drive 2 1/2 hours to help him out when he broke down, so we got him the truck to drive. He paid it off a month or so back. He says after college he wants to go back and fix the bodywork he didn’t do on the car(LOL) and we’ll put more paint on it. He really does love it though- he stole a bunch of engine parts off of my calypso when I was revising it and now he really destroys the tires when he drives it...

Little update. The calypso car that we brought home ended up being a lost cause. It had rust like no other fox I’ve seen in Texas. It was all hidden, and when we started taking it apart for paint it became apparent it was a waste of time. Sooo, we parted it out and reclaimed enough money the GT car only cost me about $600.
I cleaned up and inspected the engine I pulled for the LX and decided to go through it and freshen it up. Added some mildly ported P heads and a ported explorer intake with a Ford E cam. I have a T5 and some 3.73 gears to throw in with it for something to do until I can save enough lunch money for the cobra body kit.
Oh, and I decided to paint it teal.
Low budget Cobra Clone FTW!

Too bad about the calypso car. Where was it rusted?
Oh, hey there .. dropped off the map a bit. Sorry about that. Things have been weird lately.
It was rusted through in the door frame where the hinges bolt in. I was thinking the door sag was due to bad hinges, but the structural integrity was so compromised the door drooped! Needless to say it wasn’t a viable prospect after that discovery.

No worries.

These cars don't mess around when they rust.
