So, this is a new one to me. I did a search but it is hard to explain in short.

I am in AZ and while it is not terribly cold here it gets cold enough to give me issues with the mustang. When I go out in the morning to start my mustang, the key does not stay forward in the run position after it starts and turns back enough to kill the ignition. I have to hold it forward for a second and make sure it doesnt kick back.

I replaced the ignition tumbler set thinking it was old and wore out. But it still does it. Almost feels like it is a little gummed up and that is why it would stay forward. Doesn't do this when it is warm outside (after 9am LOL). Just early in the morning. Car runs fine other than that.

Any ideas?

You may want to check the ignition switch itself, they are notoriously bad on these cars. I also have seen the piece that runs from the lock cylinder into the ignition switch go bad and break. It happened on my old Escort and a Neon here on the lot. Regardless, it looks like you will be pulling it apart again.

I am not sure if we are all talking about the same piece or not but i replaced the ignition lock where the key goes with a brand new piece. Is there another piece that needs attention i am missing or could replace that would cause my issues. Photos would belp as well. I included a link above to the piece i replaced

The lock cylinder is where the key actually goes. I believe this is what you replaced. The ignition switch is actually the switch that is turned by turning the lock cylinder. I imagine this is your problem.

I have that sitting in my garage and i dont think that is the problem. I think it has to do with what the cylinder lock piece connects to or i bought a faulty cylinder lock.
