modifying stock mass air meter

Don't waste your time. I've tried back to back runs at the track and saw nothing. If anything, doing what you listed will tend to lean out the car more than anything. There are more bad than good things that can come from messing with it. Ours is a lot larger than our fox body cousins and its not much of a restriction in stock/near stock setups.

Welcome to the site BTW!

One of the most important things in how the EEC works and controls the engine is in the maf transfer. This is very critical and need to be right on for best performance and economy for your car. So by cutting or porting you maf you change the meter which could make it differ from what the programmed maf transfer is, thus doing more harm than good. Just save up and buy an aftermarket one if you want to upgrade.

I am sure Grady can explain this better and also give you some good insite. Or......... he may tell you I am wrong but I doubt it.

I agree with what everybody has said here :nice:

Most important thing to keep in mind IMHO is

Stock inj's will become inadequate before the stock maf ;)

I'd just wait until you need inj's for the maf upgrade :D

Welcome to :SNSign:
