I am in the final stages of mounting accessories on a 351 Cleveland. When mounting the alternator, using the spacer that came of the engine, and running the belt in the proper sheeve the belt is pulled to far forward. I corrected the problem by sawing about 1 inch of the alternator to head spacer, now the alignment is correct. I used the old alternator as a core so I cant compare demensions but I do know that it had a single pulley.
Any thoughts on how to acheve proper alignment using an unaltered spacer?
