Agree with woodsnake. I have the duraspark dizzy with an MSD 5520 ignition and an MSD blaster 2 coil. The whole setup cost around what you want to pay for just the distributor. Seems like a no brainer for me and you get a digital ignition.

332ci

Hi,

It's 332ci (289ci HP 1966).
With 303E (before 290HR from CompCams), VictorJr heads, 11.25:1 JE, MSD6AL with blaster II.

For street/strip use.

If I need to remove MSD-6AL, I won't to replaced distributor. I want one compatible with or without electonic box application.

Thanks

Reef.

If you dont want the box then you have to get a distributor that says it does not need a box to operate. those are more expensive. If your doing hi performance stuff i would suggest going with msd. It will never fail you. I just bought the same one you are looking at but with a steel gear for roller cam. make sure you but the one with the right gear.

I just went over this same issue again today. I have a thread here on the Forum,http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/805127-what-ignition-distributor-do-you-run.html should have just came to your thread instead of starting another.

Anyway I was going to go with a 1985 Duraspark Checker part# 302831 and the MSD 6A box and the MSD 8202 coil. But after doing the math this is what I came up with-

All New MSD

MSD 8598 $232.95
MSD BLASTER II $35.95
MSD 6200 6A BOX $165.95
TOTAL: $434.85

USING THE DURASPARK:

DURASPARK DIST: $50.99
MSD BLASTER II $35.95
MSD 6200 6A $165.95
MSD CAP: $28.00
ROTOR: $7.00
Adapter: $14.95
TOTAL: $302.84

So the difference is: $132.01

I am not sure $132.00 is really saving enough. Of course the HEI (GM) module can be used in place of the msd 6a for about $30.00, then the savings is big.
