What is the black box thing with the thick gauge red wire and ground connector? It wasn't attached to anything when i bought car a year ago. The red wire goes up the inside of drivers side fender and in through the firewall. Should it be grounded to battery?

Thanks!

BTW, the car is a '90 LX 5.0... pretty much stock under the hood (as far as I can tell).

Hmmmm... That would make sense. The guy I got it from wasn't exactly tidy.

So what's the black box on the cable do (I know nothing about amps and such)? You can pop off the cap and there are two ports underneath (don't have pic at the moment).

Remove and throw away! Look under the dash for any other shady wire jobs.
Okay--I'll remove it, FoxMustangLvr, but I'm afraid I wouldn't know a shady wire job if I saw one. Haha. What would shady wiring look like?

There is a mystery toggle switch mounted in the dash that does nothing as far as I can tell. I've been meaning to try to trace it out, but I've been putting it off because I have bigger fish to fry. Maybe I'll take a pic of the switch and post another thread to see if someone can give me some leads.
