Background:
I currently have the ABS warning light lit on the dash. My mechanic tells me it shows a "no communication" error. He said that with this specific error it is likely the entire ABS Control Module needs to be replaced, and not a sensor problem.

My questions:
1) Is there a cheap place I can grab a new (or even used) ABS Control Module?
2) Do you have any comments regarding my mechanic's diagnosis?

If he eliminated all the other possible causes for a "no communication" error then he's probably correct. If it was just a bad sensor then it would report that there's a bad sensor. "no communication" means the module is not getting power, the communication lines are bad or the module is just dead. There's a troubleshooting tree in the repair manual that tells you what to check for that error.

I had the same error on mine and found a used module for cheap on eBay and it fixed it right up - I've seen a couple at the junkyard recently too. Be careful that you get the right one because 1994-97 use a different module than 1999-2004 and 1998 seems to have gotten its own module. If you want new, looks like rockauto has 'em for $300.
