Engine Need Tips On Stock Head Refreshing.

I'm overhauling a running 5.0 out of a wrecked 95 mustang that has never been rebuilt but sat for a while. I have cleaned the block spotless, honed and replaced the timing chain / gears, oil pump, rings and bearings. I'm basically just doing a re-ring, bearing replacement (except cam) and converting over to carb.

This engine is basicly a stock rebuild to drop in a 65 so I can move on to the front suspension.

The heads have lots of carbon built up in the runners. So I purchased a valve spring compressor and pulled all the valve springs, valve retainers and valves and labeled them in plastic baggies on which cylinder each came from. Do you think this labeling was even necessary? I plan to take the heads to a machine shop and have them tanked and cleaned but thats it.......I do not want to spend ANY money on the stock E7TE heads besides new valve seals.

So my question is...can you provide me any tips on what I can from home w/ basic tools to make sure the valve seal decent?

Any tips on valve re-assembly?

Thanks!
