New times not what I expected....

Took a trip to Gun Barrel City over the weekend. (the only track around me running this time of year) My car has gone 12.68 in the 1/4 @ 114 mph with 8.26 in the 1/8 @ 86 mph. That run was on the OEM 2.73 gears. I recently installed 3.90 gears and figured that my times would improve....wrong. This was only a 1/8 mile track but my times were slower. I ran a best of 8.475 before getting rained out. I know a couple of things contributed to this such as NO Traction!! I could blow away the tires thru 3rd gear if I got into it too quick. And the track feeling like a washboard didn't help my ET either.

Just thought I'd share my disappointment.

What were the other times? 60ft? How did they compare?

Probably have to practice that much more since with the lower gear traction is even worse as u said. Get it to hook and i bet those times drop like a rock

Yea when you go from stock gears to 3.73's or anything really, you basically gotta relearn how to drive the car all over again.

What rpm did you cross the traps at? Thats whats KILLING my car is the lack of rear gear. What was your mph? Im in the same boat, I have 373's now but I NEED 4.30's. The 373's have me crossing 1000 rpm's too early

I recommend you pull the engine and tranny and drop in a chevy drivetrain including an LS1.
