A few months ago I bought a set of Roush branded RHS 215cc heads. I posted in here asking about a cam recommendation, with idea of keeping a broad power band and somewhat drivable, considering my relatively small 331 motor and 215cc heads.
Not much progress, but I thought I'd show you what I've gathered, and some of what I have been up to.
The heads; really no need to polish them up, but I don't believe it will really hurt, and I need something to keep my idle hands busy. So, I have been polishing the chambers and smoothing out the runners, no reshaping, just smoothing. Not sure if it will do much for flow, but, I can't help myself. Middle two runners polished, and a shot of one chamber.
I have also managed to secure a set of Pro Magnum RR for cheap and a Systemax, also for a good price.
As for the cam, I'm still undecided. I can stay with my N41 and probably get decent results. Then, there is Ed Curtis and Buddy Rawls. I did talk with Comp Cams the other day, and they actually recommended a brand new cam that isn't even in the catalog yet. Its the 35-817-13, and has duration of 227/238 with a lift of .577/.579 on a 111 LSA. I don't have the timing events, but the tech said it opens and closes the cylinders quickly, and with the slightly wider LSA, should help area under the curve. It is definitely a cam I will consider if I go OTS. But, I want to wait until I get closer to starting the swap to call a custom grinder.
Just thought some of you may like to look at the new toys. It will be spring time before anything gets put together.
