What do I do to get the nuetral safety switch to work or how do I bypass it to get the car to start when switching a car from auto to manual? I have an 86 notch if that matters, the car was autov6 and im switching to 5.0 with t5. I have everything to do it, but need to know what wires to connect or how to bypass it. I can push in the clutch to start it anytime anyways, so. THanks, Chris

i think it is a connector that plugs in the side of the trans. if i remember correctly you connect the wires and that should be it. hope this is right its been long time since i had to mess with any of that crap, my car doesnt even have a wiring harness:rlaugh:

Ok, ive got the part up by the pedals figured out. The plug in should already be there, just unplugged on the auto harness.

Now what about the wires down by the tranny. I have the harness that plugs into the side of the t5. What wires do I splice together to get this too work. This is the only thing holding me up.

Well I went out and looked at the 5speed harness that plugs into the tranny and theres 6 wires in the harness but only 4 on the plug in. 2 of them go to a plug in thats not plugged in that was just sitting under the carpet. There are these color of wires. 1. light blue w/red stripe 2. tan w/pink dots 3. black 4. purple w/orange dashes 5. black with pink stripe 6. red w/light blue stripe.
The wires that seperate off are the light blue w/ red stripe and the black wire I do believe.
The ones on the clutch pedal for the safety switch, are the red/light blue and light blue/red wires.

I dont have the mustang here that im putting this into as its at the body shop but im going to go look at it on monday. Are the wires in its auto harness going to be the same color, but just a different plug in? I guess Ill find out if none of you know and ill let you guys know.

For an 86 that was a 6, here's the diagram
