Odd fuel additive question

Moth Balls.

Has anyone ever heard of putting them in a gas tank? Supposedly makes the fuel burn cleaner and raises the octane. Add 1 dollar store moth ball to 2 gallons of gas. Doesn't work with every car but can make a dramatic difference in idle quality and fuel mileage.

Any truth to this?

No, I haven't tried it but some acquaintances swear by it.

Yea, it works, but I wouldn't do it with a catalitic converter equipped car. I ran across a bag of them the other day, cleaning a cabinet, the active ingredient is Naptha. Naptha is or was an ingredient in gasoline. I know some guys used to add them to 18 wheeler's fuel, they shoot blue flames out the pipes at night. I think they used to have Benzene in them too.
