Ordering springs, need shock/struts

I am going to order some Vogtland lowering springs but I still will have my stock shocks and struts. My car will be lowered anywhere from 1 to 1.5 inches. Do I need to get shocks and struts that are different than the stock equipment? What I really need is someone to recommend a set of shocks/struts for under $100 if possible. Just looking to replace the stockers, not building a racecar or anything.
