OT - Anyone here know DJ/Show Equip?

HEy all, in constant quest to improve things I am lookin in the DJ/Lightshow arena for equipment for my shows.. Looks like I will need a programmable controller and D/A Convertor to make it work. Any of you guys know about this stuff and can walk me thru how things work and local sources??
