Picked up my Vista today, Also Ford chose my car to beat on, Pics inside.

Picked her up today and while I was driving home noticed 70+ miles on the car. I said Oh well, they must of test drove it and I was not about to bring it back. This is the reason it didn't have any tape on it because I noticed a sticker on the rear quarter window saying. "This new vehicle was selected at random for road testing following assembly. The odometer reading includes 63.6 miles during this evaluation. We hope you enjoy driving your new Ford Vehicle. Yeah Thanks!

I assume you got a good deal on the car for it having those miles?

Well c'mon now. You order a car, Ford uses it. Its on X-plan. It's only a $26,000 car. It's not like anyone of you would of seen this after ordering it and getting it in a Month and saying " No, I don't want it now because Ford used it and it has 63 miles on it". This is my 6th one and am very happy driving it NOW. There was also 1 very, very little scuff mark on it . Should I return it? I kinda think it's cool Ford used my car!

I had the same thing happen on my 97 F-150. It had 100 miles on it direct from the factory. I spoke with the dealer who gave me that story that Ford randomly pulls a unit and does a quality check or something. The good news is that my truck has been bullet proof. The bad news is it had a rather large dent in the passenger side door which was fixed by the dealer at no cost.

Well X-Plan is a different story I suppose, but otherwise, no way would I buy a "new" car with 63 miles on it if I wasn't getting some sort of less-than-sticker break (which you are).

I've seen plenty of Fords with those stickers and I've been told Ford goes through the car pretty good after the shake down. I wouldn't fret too much.

Personally, I'd try to contact Ford and see if they would tell you what evaluations your car underwent just for kicks.

I think what Ford generally does during the sample test is:
1. Review the build sheet and assembly quality, auditing and scoring teams on shift that day. Problems with assembly generate immediate feedback.
2. Roadtest the vehicle over test loop, checking for NVH, water leaks, braking, steering, shifting etc.
3. Run the engine up to about 6500 RPM and hold it there for about 30 seconds. They then check the operating temp, and give the car a full diagnostic check.
4. Then they sit in your car and smoke a hand-rolled "cigarette" to see if the ashtray works.
5. Followed by a high speed run to the nearest liquor store. This is a timed exercise - audit team manager waits at the curb and starts drinking two beers. The run to the liquor store and back (10 miles) must be made before he sees the bottom of can number two.
6. Doughnuts are then performed in front of the nearest high school.

I might be wrong about this list, of course (at least part of it). If anyone has anything to add it would be great.

:nice: I like your choice of color and wheels! That's what I've been leaning back and forth, between that and Screaming Yellow. If you're okay with them using your car, then that's all that matters. Hopefully your car will be 'bulletproof' far into the future. Good luck! :)

I think this is good news for all of us. Yankee can rest assured that he's got a mustang that's been tested in depth, and we can rest assured that Ford is doing what it can to observe the quality of the vehicles coming off the line. Hott car.

Consider yourself lucky. Your car has been gone over with a fine tooth comb. If any defects were found, they were taken care right there at the factory before the car was released. Quality wise your car should be one of the best Mustangs out there. I would be very happy to find that sticker on any new car that I purchased.

I was thinking the same thing but alot of people were downplaying it. I thought I was missing something.

Number 4 is too funny, but true. The new GT vert I took delivery of in 1983 had a half smoked joint in the ash tray.

you should be thankful your car was selected for a QC audit. i work for ford motor company and have performed these same checks on the vehicles, and i wouldn't risk my job beating on a car just for kicks. believe me, after a few thousand that you drive off the line they are all the same except for those that get picked for the audit. those are gone over with a fine tooth comb..............................enjoy your new car, it's beautiful
