I found this auction on ebay...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4571638941&sspagename=ADME:B:AAQ:US:1

1988 Ford Mustang

Engine - 5.0L Police interceptor used in an 89 Mustang by the Chicago Police Department

Transmission - Rebuilt, regeared 5 speed manual with less than 1000 miles since rebuild

New suspension, brakes, clutch, tires, too many parts to list

I informed the seller that the engine used my police agencies was no different that the one in my car. I told him of the single key option, the 130 amp Alt, the coolant hoses, etc I let me know it kinda sound Joe Dirt-ish to say its got a poline engine. The seller disagrees....

Sure except for the fact that the police also use a chip, 27lb/hr injectors, taller heads, and headers so no they are not the same motor put out by Ford so you might want to get your info straight before you tell people they don't know what they are talking about.

Funny, I don't see this listed as options here: http://www.sspmustang.org/technical/DSO_data.htm

So, am I wrong and an idiiot, or is it the other way around? :D

It was probably modified at some point and he's taking it as stock. Alot of people also don't know that headers comes stock on HO motors.

For what reason? I know the facts.

I think I misrepresented my humor (or lack there of) ...
I was pulling the chain a little is all.

Although, emailing and debating with a guy that is obviously clueless, is not idiotic in the slightest degree is it. :nice: Please don't take insult to this, just think about it first before you call me a dik.

We still buddies

I have my 92' FHP coupe that is soon to reach 400k mi. and my friends have bought several back in the days a 88', 91' an 93'. Here's what i found them to have.
130 amp alt.
single tube oil cooler
SVO silicone hose kit
flow restrictor plate for the heater core (to avoid high speed/flow bursting)
Though that restrictor was theorectical i think since mine runs 3000-6000rpms on the open road w/o one and i never seen the core blow or leak.

Sturdier lower seat base plates
Floor pan braces
5.0 HO (not a D#$% thing different from anyone else's civilian produced 5.0h's)

Comparing apples to apples thru the years we pitted my civilian 87 LX HB against all 4 of those Trooper coupes in stock form or with various rear gears (we used 3.55-4.30's on them all) and whether at the track on the interstate when the dust settled the 87' beat them all without fail. :owned:

Now that wasn't with huge leads or nothing they all performed very well and close together except the 87' was out front. When my 92' coupe's motor dropped a rod cap at 187k mi. we found nothing internally different inside.
To this day still when i meet someone and they find out she's a police interceptor they tend to disagree/ or leave not believing much i say about what she has or doesn't have.

But i can see where they come from though there's no fun in it if the PI. weren't some superiour mythical beast that it's touted to be ( same thing now happening with the 98 up LSI PI. camaros) and some po sucker going to buy that motor under that illusion but not me. A 5.0h HO is just a 5.0h HO no matter what LX, GT, PI, 85, or 95( except the 86) they all the same to me for my purposes. :flag:

Just send him this link.

You are right Kev. The 5.0 police motors are the same 5.0 HO's as in any other Mustang. Nothing special about them other than some silicone hoses and a 130AMP alt and some other stuff.

Same 225HP motor.

There is no chip and i have no idea what "taller" heads are or what they would do. Maybe that's why my car is slow. I am running those "shorter" heads. If only i could afford the "chubby" heads :)

Yeah I know arguing with idiots is sorta pointless, but MAYBE he will learn something?

we're cool :nice:

Although there is no difference in engines....i HAVE heard stories about police officers modifying their own patrol cars.... The 5.0 was in full swing when these cars were used, parts werent as plentiful as today but they were definately out there. I guess it is *possible* that he's found some rare SSP that was modified by it's driver, but IMO he's just an assclown trying to make a buck.
