OK I was out yesterday with the windows down and when I got home the passenger
side window does not go up. No noise no movement. Just nothing. Never any sign that the window was having a problem. Any ideas before I start taking this thing apart ?

as bad as this sounds, give the door a good thump with your fist right where the window motor is. i had to do this once when it hung up. should do the trick. it will give the motor enough of a jar to get going. if not take the door panel off and then the speaker (if you have one in the kick panel location) and give the bottom of the motor a tap with a hammer. should un- freeze it

hah my window just did the same thing. it was a lot slower than my driver's side and would randomly give me hell trying to get it back up. i'm pretty sure my motor's shot. i'm going to try the little thump on the motor thing to get it back up for the time being though.

Remove the door mounted speaker & the upholstery panel to gain access to the motor. There are 3 screws (5/16" hex head, I think) that secure the motor in place. Remove them and the motor comes out without any problems. Once you remove all the screws from the motor, and it falls away from the gear teeth on the arm for the glass, the glass will move up and down. You may need a helper to hold the glass once the motor screws are out, since the gear on the motor holds the glass from sliding up or down

The motor is the same for left side or right side, only the gearboxes are different. If you can't find the complete assembly for the side you want, you can get either side and use the old gearbox on the new motor.

The gearbox has 3 plastic rollers that are a safety clutch to prevent possible injury if the window is rolled up while something or someone is hanging out the window. The plastic rollers will often disintegrate into chunks of plastic and the window will no longer roll up or down. The Help! section of your local auto parts store will have the replacement plastic rollers

Forget about hitting it, banging it, hoping it will go up, praying this and that. bottomline-You need to fix it. That is the only thing that will be a permament fix anything else is a band-aid. Its a cheap fix, You should do both and be done.
if it make you feel better, i had an 87 lincoln CONTI once and went through 8 passenger side window motors, rebuilt of course. Until i stepped up and bought a ford new replacement-neever had a prob again. this is why-I say, Stop fooling around, Because **** happens in the worst times. Like being a really bad neighborhood, need to raise your window and Bammmmmmmmmmmmmm-It wont go up! hahahah thats happened to me as well. Just preaching what i practice.
Good luck, Ant
