Pressure plate fingers flat when tightened to flywheel

I just installed new McLeod clutch disc, pressure plate, flywheel, and clutch fork . When I tighten the pressure plate to flywheel the fingers on pressure plate flat and the to bearing hits bellhousing before pushing in pressure plate fingers. The finger look to be already compressed in?

The fingers will compress some when you tighten the clutch bolts. Two possibilities, clutch plate on backwards (highly unlikely but suppose is possible or the throw out bearing is installed backwards or the wrong one.
was it a 'kit'?
