Problem with automatic

Ok, so my friend owns a 2004 Mustang convertible v6 with about 56k miles. It’s a girly car and she has left it 100% stock besides the rims and tires.

She has been having a problem with the car, today it had to be towed because she can’t get it out of park, its been an on and off problem. It’s been to the local dealership and she said they replaced a wiring harness. Someone told her it’s a problem with her transmission. I’m no expert, but I was thinking it would be a problem with her shifter.

She says that once she get’s it out of park it easily slides into the other gears without a problem. Just some times it gets stuck in park.

Does anyone know why this would happen or what would cause it?

I had this issue with my 04 also that eventually lead to it being unable to shift out of park completely. Ford had to replace the whole transmission. Thank god it was under warranty during that time. It ended up being a faulty transmission.
