punch out back half of my catalytic converters?

Right now I'm running MAC flowpaths catback after a magnaflow catted H-pipe on my stock LX.

Sounds good, but its really not that loud. Maybe slightly louder then a stock exhaust. On the flip side I've thrown on my O/R H and then its way to loud for me as a DD.

So I had a funny idea, since i'm looking happy medium of loudness between the two. I am wondering if it would be a good idea if I punched out only the back half of the two cats on my magnaflow h-pipe. I'm pretty sure that the cats have two seperate sections to them like shown below.

Not sure if i have a question in here besides has anyone done this and been happy with the results? I'm thinking that it would be fairly simple to do. Might give me a little more exhaust volume, and still scrub the exhaust fumes half way?

For the price pf that h-pipe....punching out the cats would be the last thing I would want to do. Might as well get an off-road pipe if you are gonna gp that far

If I need emission inspection I wouldn't. Just get louder mufflers

Yeah, you said an offroad was too loud. But that is an expensive mid pipe to beat the cats out of.

Look into a smaller muffler.

yeah, thats whats been holding me back. the 400$ that it cost me for that catted h...

I have the mac catback and catted magnaflow h-pipe, if you want it to sound better, do something to the stock engine to wake up the exhaust, better cam and aluminum heads to raise the compression and exhaust pressure.

couldnt you get like high flow cats an have them welded on or is thats whats on there ?

Magnaflow cats are already high flow.
