Putting Togeather

hey guys going to be putting together my 302 soon just the bottom end .. i have .030 over pistons going in stock crank and rods . i am upgrading the rod bolts to

ARP. they are just hyperutectic pistons silvolites i think they are. and hastings rings. that are also .030 over. i am planning on shooting this with a 100 shot for fun at the track. i wouldn't mind some tips on putting the bottom end together things you have ran into and things not to do.

do the rings need to be opened up any for 100 shot you think?? if so how much? this will be the first time i have put a bottom end together i do know about how to check clearances all that fun stuff . just would like to know what you guys have ran into and what you have done to make the process better??..

i am mechanically inclined just my first bottom end thanks.

build it as you would any other N/A motor. You don't want excessive oil consumption or blow by.

Agreed. Build to the Chilton/Haynes manual specs.

Thanks guys . also I lost the nuts to my rod bolts I have arp nuts that will work can I just use those ?? Stock rod studs tho.
