Just looking for opinions, is there a "right way" to put these things on the plugs? I feel like I'm doing something wrong. They don't have that click feeling that I'm used to from spark plug wires, and I'm worried that I'm not getting them onto the plugs well enough.

I thought maybe I should pull off the boot and put that on the plug first and then slip the spring down the boot? Does it make a difference?

As long as they are all the way in and seated on the intake, you are good. You wont have the click that you are used to with wires due to the little spring in the boot. I have seen (and used) some stainless cables that replace the springs in the boots and you will have the click then but, stock style boots with the springs in them = no click. Hope that helps.
