Radiator Hose Spring

Replacing the water pump and lower radiator hose on my LX. The new hose does not have the spring to keep it from collapsing. I understand that the new hoses are not supposed to need the spring but since the pump is higher volume I thought I might insert the old spring. Will that be OK? Will there be any chance of the spring being sucked into the pump?

Thanks for the help.

I always transfer the springs though I'm not sure it's needed (seems more like a mod motor issue). I can tell you that guys in here HAVE had the spring get sucked into the pump before.

I cannot think of an easy shade-tree means of ensuring the spring cant migrate. It'd be kinda neat if someone made a sleeve that slid inside the hose on the pump-side. The sleeve would be between where the hose clamps onto the pump and the spring. It would kinda be like a limiter for spring movement.
