Randomly came across block casting number, what can ya tell me?

D2AE-6015-BA-12... what can you tell me? There was also something below it (this was on the underside of the engine), what looked like 3-4 characters but they were much smaller and pretty much illegible.

All i could decode is its a 1972 engine from a Galaxie. Maybe someone else can do better for you, possibly D.Hearne

The book I have list's it as a 351W block with a 9.48 deck height, unless it was cast in 74, then it would be the taller 9.503 deck.. I believe that's the same casting # on the one i have left in my shop. The other characters are the date code, which will tell you exactly when it was cast.

D2=1972 block...that's all I know.

Yes, D2AE means it was Originally cast for a Galaxie or rather a full size car ( there was no Galaxie by 72) but doesn't mean it that's the vehicle it was installed in.
