Drivetrain Rear axle play/rattle

I changed rear springs today. After a test drive, I noticed a rear rattling sound that was new. I figured it was the new rear springs not set in the perches correctly, so I went over everything under the car. I noticed when I grab either rear tire and rock it, it get a rattlle that sounds like a loose axle shaft. The rear hub assemblies have about 1/16" or so of play in them in/out. When the rim/tire is on the car on the ground, I can rock the axle shafts slightly. It makes chatter when I do this.

I'm curious what model rear axle are you dealing with?

I found out that a small amount of play is normal in this type rear axle. It's a 93 Mustang.
