Hey guys,

Looking for some ideas. Currently I have 03-04 cobra seats up front and reupholstered rear seat to match. I also have the door panels done to match.

For me, the cobra seats look to big inside. I'm looking at some Recaro style seats that look nice.

I'm looking for ideas on the material and color that would look good. Can I get Recardo seats with the same suede inserts? Would a all black look dumb?

Trying to figure out a place to buy from as well.

Recaro's come in all sorts of materials and coverings. You might be limited if you buy them brand new, but most sets have been recovered by now. SO really, the sky is the limit.

The center inserts are removable, so you can always buy a set and just have the centers redone to match, or buy another set of centers and recover those.

These are mine. I've recovered them but the center inserts are actually original recaro material. I have an 03 cobra seat that sorta matches, but was going to recover my rear fox seat to match vs cut up the cobra seat.

I had SN95 seats previously. These sit much lower. Currently adding netted headrests but i haven't recovered them to match yet.

Wow those turned out great! I see you don't have matching rear seat. This was my other hold up. Not sure how it would look. I also have a grey factory set out of a 92-93 mustang. Thought about having them redone in black.

But I like how those sit lower. Just wondering if my Holley terminator x ecu would still fit under the seat?

Decisions.

Back seat is on my list. Right now car is apart so I have other priorities. I have an 03/04 cobra seat that I might try to match, but I just might have a local shop add inserts to match my fronts. Problem is finding matching material.

I’ll get to it one day

Depends on what seat brackets you use. I have the original 1993 style amp under my pass seat. Plenty of room. I think the term X is about the same size or smaller

I’m following this because the recaro lx’s are pretty much the only seat I like. Well, maybe the specialist as well. Do you guys have a good source to purchase? They sure are pricey.

Unfortunately no. Vast majority of them were made overseas where they grow on trees practically. Only a few US vehicles got them. They were pricey to buy from Us dealers as well. Various Fb groups offer them for sale, but you are buying from overseas. There are a few reputable vendors from overseas that many deal with.

Recaro is remaking them now. Few different patterns, but holy hell they are expensive

I ended up using the wedge brackets, and my pro-m ecu fits or at least seems to fit thus far. I’ll have to mount the new sliders and see. Yup recaros are pricey. I wanted some for a long time, almost bought some over seas but would’ve been at least 2k for seats, then still needed the brackets and sliders. Any way I lucked out and picked up a pile of Recaro parts locally from a guy who posted it up for $40!!! Turned out I got a bunch of little parts, a pair of LS-C seats and one LS-B. I’m sending the LSC seats out to be reupholstered but waiting on some netted headrests I picked up to come in.

I was going to recover my lx sport seats but for the price I got on cyber Monday for a pair of new corbeau I went new and used my original brackets.
Then again this is my daily so comfort before beauty, those recos are bea u tea full....

Doing my front recaro's and the back to match cost me just over $2200.
That includes buying them, shipping them, wedge brackets and recaro sliders and all work necessary to make them like new.

Cores are obtainable, but it takes some effort. It's not like going to store and grabbing a gallon of milk. May take a week, could take months.
I was lucky and it took a few minutes, lol.

Yeah, that puts new foam and leather covers from TMI in perspective quickly...

even restoring a set of Fox seats can get pricey. I have a set of 87-89GT seats Id like to recover in the TMI foam and covers and pricing it out (with rear seat cover) is still $500 in foam and $700in covers and that doesn’t include replacing some of the plastic trim or new seat springs or misc items if they need to be replaced at all. That’s also DIY and not paying a shop to do it.

I’m into my Recaros for ~$1500 without including back seat or recovering the netted headrests. That’s with the sliders and bases and me installing the covers and foam myself. But I feel those seats are more of an investment and retain their value better.

I also got lucky on the cores and just happened to look at the right time and found them local to me. Couldn’t get there fast enough to fork over the cash and take them home. I actually got lucky in tracking down a lot of the parts I used to restore them. Restoring them was a fun project but not sure I’d get lucky enough to duplicate the results. Cores seem harder to find now.

Yes even stock covers are expensive be live me I'd love me some recos but dollars were not their . For just under $600 I got my new seats and I didn't spend the $250 for their brackets just drilled one hole on each stock bracket and put them in.

luckily enough i'm not quite there yet, quite a few other things to wrap up before i get there. but i do either want to get a different set or at a minimum recover mine.. will see what happens as time progresses.. Glad you guys have been able to score great deals like that!

Funny. I’m in the same boat . I have 03 cobra seats for a bunch of years now and really want a change as well
