Ok I'm gonna need traction bad on my ll but I want the looks to go along with it. I would really really like to put 17'' rims on my car. Has it been done? If so, what is the widest low profile tire you can fit? What is the best looking biggest widest tire you can fit on the ll? Size and offset info on the rim, and tire size info would be great. I do see some people put 14'' and 15'' rims on there cars. I want to go bigger. Like something along the lines of the Cobra R rim size. I know I've seen a pic somewhere of a ll with the Cobra R's on it. I have a 302 W/ 425 dyno'd HP plus a 150 shot of NOS. This is a lot of HP for this lil car. Its gonna need some big shoes. I'm not tubbing it out or cutting wheel wells. Plus there will be slapper bars or traction bars on this car, so I don't know if they will need clearence.

The doors, fenders, hood, hatch, grill, carpeting, seats, dash is all taken out of or off of the car right now. Plus I would like to go with Fiberglass body parts. But I do have all the parts and they are all refurbished. Although I could probably use some new side cargo panels and rear taillight panels. Mine are pretty scratched up and have some holes drilled in them from previous owner.

Could always refer to the wheels/tires thread at the top of the forum, or to:

Really, I don't know anything about getting width in the rear, just 15, 16, and 17" wheels. Widest I've gone is a 245 on 8" wide rims. I know there's room for more, but IMO, the rear end needs a little more poisitively located before I ever try going any wider. Right now, the 78 coupe has the wheel wells rolled almost flat, and 1" bolt-on spacers just to fit 245/45-16" tires. There's lots of room around them though.

Spacers

Hey thanks for that site on the spacers. I was gonna go five lug til I found out how exensive it was to put in a half way decent performace conversion.

I'm stickin wit the 4 lug and they got the spacers I need. Thanks for the site once again.
