Paint and Body Salvage car?

Has anyone ever bought a totaled car to build? I'm seriously considering buying a car that has been totaled with front end damage only and using it to be the base of my build. I would be replacing the entire front clip anyways so if they're damaged it wouldn't be a big deal. This way I would have more money to spend on performance upgrades and what not. I understand that I likely wouldn't be able to resell it for nearly as much as I put into it but I plan on keeping it forever anyways. What do you guys think?

I would skip this project due to the extreme complexity that the latest Mustangs have. Body structure, electronics, and safety gear are way beyond the most advanced repair shops and you are right that resale will be an issue. Most insurance companies would run away from covering a rebuild like this due to uncertain safety aspect. Parts car yes, rebuild no way.
