Shift light w/ stock tach?

I currently have the factory tach and I need a shift light. I raced a 98 cobra last night on the street and I went past my redline in first gear and it kinda scared me.
Do you guys know if the stock tach can be wired up to an autometer shift light, if yes how?

yes easily if you buy just the shift light like an autometer light it hooks up just like a tach , green wire to the neg. side of coil ,white wire to lights, red wire to switched 12v.black wire to ground. have fun!
