Smoked taillights

Hey guys,

I recently bought a set of 2010 style taillights for my Stang. Looks great other than the fact that they are noticeably lighter than the stock lights. So much so that it bothers me. So I am thinking of buying a set of smoked tail lights. I think it will look great with my dark gray paint and black stripes.

What I'm wondering is if it will make my lights too dark? Do cops hassle you for driving a car with smoked tail lights?

Also, I definitely don't want to do smoked headlights as I'm pretty sure that must have an effect on the brightness of your headlights. Will it look weird to have a car with smoked tail lights and regular headlights? Anyone with pics?

Thanks,
D

I am thinking about doing the same thing. I think the police will stop you if the light is too dim when you apply the brakes. If I get them and notice a cop behind me, I will tap the brake to show him/her that the light is just as bright as if there was no tint at all.
This is the kit I'm thinking of getting. Play the view on the page:

As far as looking "silly" without the fronts done, I don't plan on doing the main lights, but I may do the fogs. And anyone who notices the front ones plain, will soon be behind me anyway, do it doesn't matter. lol

Those Raxiom's are indeed nice but a tad pricey in my book. Here's what I went with:

The non-smoked ones I got were from the same company. Fit and look great I just don't like how bright they are. They're so much brighter than the 3rd brake light that it looks like the 3rd brake light is barely even on. I bet with the smoked lights the whole back end will match nicely.
