Progress Thread Snow - 93 GT Vert. My first Ford, Mustang, convertible, ...

Remember that time you replaced the Ford Motorcraft battery in the fox body with a duralast (gold) and your Dad rage texts you for 2 hours? I do …

Quote: “I personally can’t stand to see a nice engine compartment that has a Duralast or somesuch scummy cheap asked battery”

You can get a quality coil from rockauto for less money and have a choice of manufacturers to boot, first I would put the coil wire on and see if it still arcs, the coil produces a bunch of power and it has to go someplace.

Remember that block of wood I used with the jack and the k-member? Well, it decided to stay on the car and come in the test drive with me. Made it out and all the way home before I took it off

If you were trying to start or run the car with the ignition system still active in that pic, the coil will build charge and if you have nowhere to send the current it will arc to the nearest ground (mount bolts for coil/shock tower). Remember the distributor will still tell the coil to fire even if you take the coil wire off.

The effect is the same as if you pull a spark plug wire and set it near a bolt. The wire will arc over (the energy has nowhere else to go).

Starting to work on the power window motors

1. Windows all down. Only 1 driver rear motor even turns over. The rest are dead. What’s the best way to bring up the windows?

2. Here is my naked door. Should I have some sort of material or deadening? Is that stuff worth it?

That stretch wrap is not factory. Usually only a craft paper/tar paper kind of vapour shield under the door panel. They usually get destroyed and not put back on.

Ho ho ho - its winter time in Massachusetts. Enough of the 1986 Cobalt 21BR, enough of the 2008 Hyundai Elantra, enough of the 2012 Honda Odyssey, and for gawds sake enough of the 2004 Dodge Ram 1500. I finished the 2007 Ariens snow blower, and I have the 2019 Cervelo p-series all prepped for sale.

Its time to prep the 1993 GT (LX-Saleen pretender) vert named Snow for some head. Well, at least some new headers.

Not much has changed since I last checked in. I did the PS pump with a LMR one (it sounds worse), and the window motors per above. Though the biggest addition was the stifflers SFCs (their support was super great to me), though please please do not ask me how much I paid to have them installed.

I have started prepping the garage for a long winter with Snow. Gonna get her high up on some stands, then start the slow process of putting in the new headers and throttle body. With the wrench flipping I have been doing the past year or so, I feel a good bit more prepared for this work. Also, I have figured out my special skill. I found that what Im really good at is buying tools. I plan to leverage this strength throughout this process.

More to come

Rate my jack points.

Yea, the 6 tons were way too big. Maybe I’ll use those in the rear.

Also added the ramps just to be safe. Assuming I will want to take off tires at some point, which is why I didn’t use them for starters.

The good news is that I finally finished the summer beer. I hope that explains the level of procrastination I am capable of.

Jacking up the rear from the pumpkin. Though I read about the 1 degree of negative camber that could cause the fox body to blow up. I say bring it on!!

I’ve hit the beer point will I won’t be going under the car. I think I have a safe level of paranoia when it comes to vehicles falling on me.

I’ll get the rear lifted, the setup the lighting, then finish setting up the space.
