Speedometer Gear Swap

Recently changed gears to 3.73 and want to change my speedometer gear to correct my speedo. I located the speedometer gear at the end of my cable and took out the 11 mm bolt but I am stuck from there . I can't seem to get a piece to release from my transmission . What can I be doing wrong? I can get it out a little ways but that's it. Please help. Do I just take off the little clip and not the whole piece that inserts into my transmission? Any advice is appreciated

Sorry, 91 lx, t5. I finally got the gear out, I found out they came out easier when I unhooked the speedo cable from the clip on the frame. The gear I took out was a black 20 tooth. My replacement is a red 21 tooth?? I think I ordered the wrong gear? I think I need the white 23 tooth?? Correct?

Yikes, I used this calculator to order my first one. It appears I need the white 23 tooth. I must of had too many keystones the night I placed my order
