Do 2.3L engines have an oil drain plug gasket?

I'm pretty sure they're supposed to, although I don't think my Mustang ever had one on it.

Not a stupid question at all. I don't remember if my original one did, but my aftermarket one has the little rubber gasket.

Mine did, it was white plastic and looked to be made out of nylon or polyurethane.

Yes, it's a Nylon washer that goes between the pan and drain plug.

I got oil leaking around the drain plug, mine must be missing.

Any Auto parts store should have them.

There should be a selection of them in black backed blister pack and they are done by same folks who do the "HELP!" stuff I think.

The nylon washer is molded onto the oil drain plug. It has a tendency to crack and fall apart over time. While I know it is a big purchase, I'd probably buy a whole new oil drain plug, or at least yank a nicer one from the junk yard.

go to autozone they will cost you like 3 bucks for a new oil drain plug and the newer ones come with a metal/rubber washer that you can reuse for a longer time than the nylon or rubber ones alone...
