Anyone see one of these before?

Aparentky they came on some '79 pace cars.

Well I found one on CL. Not in great shape though. Gonna see if I can repair the cracks and paint it SEM trim black and figure out how to mount it. My fear is there are some '79 pace car hardeare parts I'm missing

They are very hard to come by. I've only seen one for sale ever, but have seen pics.

I paid $50 for this, and in not so great shape. I don't care as I've been wanting one. I'm going to first try and restore it, and then see if I can find some pace car people to get me some pics of how this thing installs

FEP ought to have something for that, i would think.

Gonna check there in the AM.

But I have discovered there is a unique chrome rail the front sits on (you can see in above pic) and the rear clips into two clips in headliner.

Pic here of the rear clips

Under the headliner, these clips would be welded to the roof. The headliner would latch into these

And here's the front rail

And where the rear twist lock clips mount (the circles)

BTW, part number for this thing is D9ZB-6619B90-AWC

Found some mounting pics. It's rumored 79-81 Cobras and 79 fairmonts had them too. The reason they were eliminated? They fell down while driving!

Anyway. Front rail

These pass through the headliner, and clip to two tabs welded to the roof

You cAn see the two tabs here just to the side of the sunroof latch. So I need to find these.

Discovered this shade came in quite a few vehicles from 77-81. Fairmonts and mustang ii got them too

Here’s are the tabs

True. I just like stuff to be close to oem.

I bought two clips NOS pretty cheap. Found two guys with the rails. Now just trying to see who doesn't think they are worth their weight in gold.

The rear tabs look like they might be a problem since they weld to the roof. Need to find someone with an early fox parting out who would cut them out for me . Not going to go crazy right now with this, just figure I round up some parts. Working on getting AC working would do me a lot more benefit than a sunshade ;)
