Timing Question 69mustang 1971 351w

Ive got a 69 mustang with a 351 w bored .030 over flat top hyp.pistons and 58 cc heads. Im switching from the a stock dist to a msd pro billet with only mechanical advance. My question is how much total timing do these engines like is 30 degrees enouhf or can it handle more?

30 total seems a little low.
In most cases they like a little more, 32,34,36?

go to 32, test drive see if it improves your performance
repeat if neccessary.

34-36 is normally optimal with a primarily stock windsor.
