I know this has been asked several times but please spare me from having to search.

I have a 1991 GT. What is the widest tire that can go on a 16 inch pony rims without any modifications or rubbing? What is the best size for these rims?

245/50 rear and 225/50 front is a pretty standard answer

That's what I had 245/50 rear, but I think I had the stock 225/55 in front. Not certain though, it's been a while since I had those wheels.

I had 245/50/16's all around on my '88 when i had ponys. Car was lowered on c-sprinds. Minor rub at full lock up front, but it never dug into the tires or caused any wear.
