Tracking down a Shelby?

My dad had 1968 GT-350 Convertible in the mid-70s. He sold it. I've never forgiven him, as I have fond memories of co-piloting that thing as a wee lad.

Recently I asked him if he had the VIN, because I'd be curious to see if I could track it down. Lo and behold, he produced the original build sheet!

Unfortunately, one digit in the vin is a bit hard to read. Other than that, the entire build sheet is pretty readable.

Anyone have any suggestions for a way to try and track this car down without forking out the obscene amount for the SAAC registry ?

Contact SAAC directly. They would probably tell you if the car is "known" to them - ie: in the registry. As to where the car is or who owns it, I think you'd have to buy the book.
