Tranny extention housing thread stripped

I have a bolt hole stripped on my tranny where the extention housing (tailhousing) bolts up. Should I heli coil the hole? I really don't want to spend the $20 for the heli-coil kit if it shouldn't leak w/ a loose bolt.

I know I probably should go ahead and heli coil it, I just don't want to do it, lol.
