Can a swap my v6 2001 mustang transmission for a 2003 gt mustang transmission?

No. The motor to transmission bolt pattern does NOT match. The OHV V6 and a modular 4.6 V8 GT have different bolt patterns.

Don't assume that all 4R70W transmissions are the same. Different cases similar insides.

Well.......

starter mounting (2 bolt verses 3 bolt) for starters (do you like the pun?). But if you have doubts I suggest giving it a try. It will make a great "lessons learned" thread. Especially if you are able to make it work.

Want more information? Try looking up the part in car-part.com. Make note of the model year and "applications" that come up. This will give an idea of the other applications can interchange. The salvage yard industry is very good at maintaining the interchange data.
